About the artist

Nicki Klepper (b. 1991) is an artist whose work broadly focuses on themes about place, loss, and memory. Most recently, she has explored these themes in relation to the complex history of the southern landscape. Inspired by archival research, she has also worked closely with the Georgia Historical Society to shed light on “forgotten histories”. Originally from New Jersey, Nicki has spent her time between the Garden State and Montauk, Long Island. After moving to the south, she felt an urge to connect to the landscape and the culture. This desire turned into curiosity and resulted in her graduate thesis work, Lazaretto, which doubled as a solo exhibition in Savannah, GA. She received her BFA in Studio Art from Alfred University in 2013 and her MFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2019. She lives and works in Nashville, TN. Her most recent work was featured in What Photography Is curated by Kyra Schmidt at the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum in Roanoke, VA. She currently resides in the Nashville, TN area with her husband and two dogs.
